hey guys. Wondeing if you guys know a way to get rid of a fun lil virus a somehow got. it's called win32/virut. Any tips be greatly needed. Damn thing won't stop reinfecting everything.

According to http://free.avg.com/ww-en/66558, it's an IRC bot.... if you use Regedit to look in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run, try deleting everything that shouldn't be there and restarting. If you just want to stop it from doing anything, blocking port 65520 (outbound) would probably work.

*chin scratch* Oks. I'll do that, but I read it infects all exes (which includes windows' main system files, like winlogin). I tried cleaning it out several different ways but alas damn thing is stubbern (and breaking damn near every file it touches.. my web server T_T) Also I dono how to block ports.

I desided to reinstall windows.. The virus damaged way too meny files to keep the original copy. Well It was better off since I now got Windows Xp Sp3.

Removal of virus will result in a damaged windows, which might work - until you login.
You will get locked out. I dealt with the Virus once - it sucked.

Also: Removal of virus is IMPOSSIBLE until you remove the harddrive from your comp and scan it with another computer.
Even that will break windows, since it cannot repair itself while the virus is active. brickshit virus -_-
